PosteFuturo Investimenti, how Poste Italiane’s 7 ETF lines work

Those who wish to invest their savings in alternative instruments to the classic postal savings bonds or deposit accounts to obtain more interesting returns in the medium and long term can rely on PosteFuturo Investimenti. This service allows access to 7 investment lines based on ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds), funds listed on the stock exchange that replicate the performance of specific sectors, indices or markets thanks to which it is possible to distribute the risk across multiple financial assets. But how does PosteFuturo Investimenti work and how to activate an investment line?

How PosteFuturo investments works

PosteFuturo Investimenti is the asset management service offered by Poste Italiane in collaboration with MoneyFarm thanks to which it is possible to entrust your savings to professionals in the sector without having to follow market trends on a daily basis.

It is based on ETFs, tools thanks to which it is possible to obtain a diversified portfolio and contain costs compared to other forms of traditional management.

The platform offers 7 investment lines that differ based on the risk profile and objectives. It is a simple and transparent product in which a team of managers makes decisions to seize market opportunities based on the line subscribed to by the customer. The Team then keeps the latter informed of the operations carried out, always protecting his privacy.

The initial investment is 5,000 euros and the entire management takes place online: from portfolio simulation to investment monitoring, all with the support of a dedicated team that can be contacted from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm on 800.022.000.

If you want more specific information, there is also the possibility of leaving your telephone number on the official Poste Italiane website. By doing so you will be contacted by an operator on the day and in the time slot chosen to respond to useful information on the purchase or subscription of this product/service.

What are the risks when investing in financial instruments

When investing in financial products, the return opportunities are certainly higher than with other products. However, the risks must be considered as they could affect the value of the money invested.

One of the main ones is market risk, i.e. the possibility that the value of the investment decreases over time due to fluctuations in the financial markets. The price of ETFs, bonds or shares, for example, can rise or fall based on the economic situation or the decisions of central banks. Then there are:

  • the exchange rate risk linked to variations between the euro and foreign currencies;
  • liquidity risk, or the difficulty of quickly selling a security at the desired price, especially in periods of strong instability;
  • credit risk, i.e. the possibility that the bank or company that issued the financial product is unable to return the interest or capital to investors; in the case of banking crises, European rules give the possibility of using bail-in;
  • sustainability risk which is linked to environmental, social or governance factors.

What are the costs that apply?

Before investing your savings through PosteFuturo investments, it is important to understand what the costs associated with portfolio management are. The latter service is entrusted to MoneyFarm and an annual commission is paid for it, calculated as a percentage of the value of the invested capital.

However, there are no entry and exit costs, so this product can be more flexible for those who decide to start or stop investing.

The commissions, excluding VAT, are as follows:

  • for an investment from 5,000 euros to 19,999 euros it is 1.00% per year on the equivalent value;
  • for an investment from 20,000 euros to 199,999 euros it is 0.75% per year on the equivalent value;
  • for an investment from 200,000 euros to 499,999 euros it is 0.50% per year on the equivalent value;
  • for an investment over 500,000 euros it is 0.40% per year on the equivalent value.

In addition to these commissions, there are other expenses borne by the customer such as taxes, state stamp duty on financial investments and costs linked to ETFs or other instruments present in the indicated investment lines. To have a more complete vision of the overall costs of the investment it is therefore important to consider these items.

You can then interrupt the service whenever you want without paying any penalty. You only pay the commissions accrued up to the exit date and any applicable taxes. In this way, management is more flexible and the saver has the possibility of changing their choices based on personal needs or market trends.

How to activate an investment line

Activating an investment line with Postefuturo can take place directly online without the need to go to a post office. The first step to take is to access the official Poste Italiane website with your personal credentials in the section dedicated to investments.

Once entered, it is possible to carry out a simulation by choosing which amount to allocate to management by indicating the time horizon, i.e. the period within which you want to maintain the investment whose minimum capital is 5,000 euros.

If you want to invest gradually, you can also choose the Pac which is the capital accumulation plan thanks to which you can make minimum payments of 100 euros per month. The latter is a solution chosen by those who prefer to enter the financial markets little by little, limiting market fluctuations.

Before proceeding with the activation, however, it is necessary to complete the Mifid questionnaire which is a document used to define the customer’s financial profile and evaluate his experience in the investment sector. Based on the information communicated, the system then proposes investment lines that are more consistent with the identified profile.

To be able to join the service it is also necessary to have a BancoPosta current account or a Smart savings account enabled for online operations. After choosing the investment line, the customer can then sign the documentation directly online with the advanced electronic signature. Following this operation, the transfer of the sums to the chosen wallet is then authorized. All information relating to the investment can then be monitored in your personal area while in the section dedicated to portfolio management you can check the composition of the chosen line.

Finally, Poste Italiane reminds you that any financial investment can involve a risk and for this reason diversifying helps reduce exposure to market fluctuations.
