In Rome opens the first free veterinary hospital in Italy, who can take advantage of it

How the Veterinary Hospital will work

  • Veterinary emergency room with infirmary;
  • two operating rooms for surgery;

  • Analysis and radiology laboratory for advanced diagnosis;
  • Spaces for university education and veterinary research.

Who can take advantage of free care?

At the moment, the hospital will be destined for a restricted circle of subjects. In fact, even those who have access to a bonus for animals, are currently excluded. Within the structure, at first, they will mainly enter:

  • Animals without family hosted in municipal kennels and cats;
  • Dogs and cats awaiting adoption;
  • Possible extension to individuals, with priority for those who adopt by public bodies.

When will the hospital open?

The Capitol announced the opening of the Veterinary Hospital By 2027. The works, started in recent days, will have an estimated 21 -month duration and foresee not only the construction of the health facility, but also the expansion of the Muratella kennel.

The total investment for the construction of the hospital and the expansion of the structures is approximately 6.5 million euros, funded entirely by the Municipality of Rome.
