American President Donald Trump makes three names for the acquisition of Tiktok USA, the American company which, based on the agreements taken with the Chinese leader XI Jinping, will have to manage the social network of Chinese origin that belongs to Bytedance. In the consortium of investors, according to the president in an interview with Fox News “The Sunday Briefing”, there would be Murdoch, father and son, together with Larry Allison, president of Oracle, and Michael Dell, founder of Dell Technologies.
The three “patriots” entrepreneurs of Trump
“A man named Lachlan is involved,” Trump began in the interview, mentioning the conservative entrepreneur, president of News Corp And CEO Difox Corporation, son of the Australian magnitude Rupert Murdoch, founder of News Corp. “Rupert will probably be in the group, I think they will be in the group”, added Trump.
In reality, a source told the CNBC that it is unlikely that Lachlan Murdoch personally participates in the agreement to detect Tiktok, but the Fox Corporation could do it.
“A couple of other people, really fantastic people, very important people,” said Trump, adding “they are also American patriots, you know, they love this country. So I think they will do an excellent job”.
The US leader therefore nodded to two other well-known entrepreneurs from his supporters, such as Larry Ellison, co-founder and executive president of Oracle, who recently ranked the richest man in the world, thanks to the success of Oracle, whose actions have literally flown this year.
The third name is that of Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, among the world leaders in the sector of hardware supplies for computer, a company that works for government bodies and which has always underlined the commitment to ethics and privacy.
Agreement for Tiktok still to be defined
Trump’s statements on the possible buyers of Tiktok USA appear a little too hasty, from the moment that the agreement with the Chinese president XI has yet to be defined in detail. A very tiring agreement, which has resolved a question that has been dragged for a year. But there are still numerous technical and formal aspects to be defined, also with regard to governance. For example, the White House established Saturday that at least six of the seven members of the Board of Tiktok USA will have to be American.
Tiktok was obscured in the United States, for national security reasons, being a social of Chinese origin and collecting data on American users. A law of 2024 has imposed its sale to an US company, otherwise the app would be banned on the US territory. And, in fact, Google and Apple removed the app from their App Store, preventing their download in the United States, to avoid the highly salted fine they should pay for transgressing the law.
The main concerns, underlying the safety alarm launched by the US administration, concern the possible improper use of US user data, which according to the US congress could be managed by Beijing. The question was at the center of a legal dispute between Tiktok and the American government, then resolved by Trump with the agreement signed with Beijing.
