The Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, with the notice published in the Official Journal on 22 September 2026, has renewed the range of postal savings placed by Poste Italiane. The series of savings bonds that can be subscribed to are changing and, above all, the rates of Supersmart Deposits on the Smart Booklet are rising. Those evaluating where to keep liquidity today find conditions different from those in force until mid-September.
The new series of savings bonds
7 new series of postal savings bonds are being issued, which replace the previous ones:
- Premium Coupon;
- Coupon voucher for 8 years;
- Interest-bearing Postal Voucher 4 years Plus;
- Good Solution Legacy;
- Voucher dedicated to minors;
- Renew 3×4 voucher with prize;
- BFP Renews Prima 3×4 Award.
The economic conditions of each series are reported in Summary Sheets and in Information Sheets updated. The Premium Bond reserved for new liquidity remains the security with the highest yield in the short-term range.
The series issued until July can no longer be subscribed to but the vouchers already purchased continue at their original conditions.
Higher rates for Supersmart Deposits
The most important innovation concerns Supersmart Deposits, i.e. the restricted provisions of the sums present in the Smart Booklet. Rates, all nominal annual gross at maturity, increase on all lines.
Young, Pension and Minors at 3.25%
For Supersmart Young, Pension and Minor Deposits, the rate rises to 3.25% from the previous 2.5%.
- Supersmart Youngreserved for savers between 18 and 35 years old, lasts 180 days;
- Supersmart Pensionreserved for those who credit the INPS pension to the Smart Booklet, lasts 364 days;
- Supersmart Minorswhich can be activated by parents in the booklet dedicated to minors, lasting 182 days.
Open and Renew at 2.25% and 2.5%
- Supersmart Openopen to all adult holders, lasts 360 days – the rate rises to 2.25% from 1.75%;
- Supersmart Renewreserved for those who reinvest the sums of 366-day Supersmart Premium Deposits expired from 1 January, lasts 540 days – the rate rises to 2.5% from 2%.
The sums left in the passbook without provisions remain remunerated at the Basic Rate, today at 0.001% for the Smart Passbook and 0.01% for the Minors Passbook.
What you need to know before investing
However, pay attention to taxation, which is not the same for the two instruments.
The interest on postal savings bonds discounts the preferential rate of 12.5%, to which is added the stamp duty of 0.2% per year when the value of the coupon portfolio exceeds 5,000 euros.
The interest on Supersmart Deposits, however, are provisions in the Smart Booklet and are subject to the ordinary withholding tax of 26%.
It means that the 3.25% gross of a Supersmart Young or Pension comes net reduced by more than a quarter, while the same rate on a voucher yields more. The yield indicated is always gross and accrued upon maturity – you must therefore wait for the natural end indicated in the Information Sheet before receiving the expected amount.
The updated Information Sheets and Summary Cards are available in post offices and on the Poste Italiane and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti websites. It is worth remembering that Cdp has the right to stop offers at any time.
