The relaunch plan of Piaggio Aero

During the comparison with the union acronyms Fiom, Fim and Uilm, the CEO of BaykarHaluk Bayraktar, illustrated the strategy to bring Piaggio Aero back to stability. The plan provides:

  • the relaunch of the p.180, with two new versions for the civil market and one for special missions;
  • the expansion of the motor sector, with the production and maintenance of new aeronautical engines:
  • The transfer of the production of drones to Villanova d’Albenga, transforming the plant into a center of excellence for air -free air systems;
  • the increase in the workforce, after an initial stabilization phase.

However, the unions have highlighted some criticalityin particular the situation of the 56 workers in extraordinary administration, for whom an accompaniment to retirement is expected.

What are the challenges to face: between Golden Power and economic sustainability

One of the main obstacles to the acquisition is the approval of the Golden Power, a tool with which the Italian government can protect strategic companies from foreign investments. The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, will have to evaluate whether the operation respects national interests, also considering the presence of Piaggio Aero in the defense sector.

From an economic point of view, Baykar’s plan foresees 40 million investments In 2025, but this figure may not be enough to guarantee the company’s financial stability. The new property will therefore have to work to regain market shares, especially in the United States and Europe, where Piaggio Aero has lost competitiveness in recent years.
