The Ministry of Health has recalled several packs of salad widespread in numerous Italian supermarkets. All the batches can be traced back to the same manufacturing company, but they are part of 19 different brands. The reason for the recall would be the risk of the presence of the bacterium inside them Listeria monocytogenes.
The company that produces these packages is Orthoroms cooperative society, with headquarters in Salerno. The ministry has recommended not consuming the packages listed in the press release. Supermarkets are instead required to remove the indicated packages from the shelves.
The recall of salads from Italian supermarkets and the health risks
On the portal dedicated to food recalls and withdrawals of the Ministry of Health On September 12, an important announcement appeared listing the lots of numerous salad packages distributed in several supermarkets in the country, including very busy ones. The health risk associated with the consumption of these products is bacterial, due to the pathogen Listeria monocytogenes.
There are 19 brands involved in the recall by the Ministry of Health: Il Castello, Foglia Verde Eurospin, Alifresh, Il Mio Orto, Centrale del Latte, Ciro Amodio, Colline Verdi, Natura Chiama Selex, Latte Francia, Mi Mordi, Natura È di Penny Market, Polenghi, Ortoromi, Ortofresco Pulito, Sigma, Très Bon, Torre in Pietra, Tornese and Vivinatura.
Despite the fact that there are so many brands, the company that produced these salad boxes is always the same: OrthoromsThe factory where it was packaged is the one in via Olmo 34, in Bellizzi, in the province of Salerno. If you have purchased one of these packages, we recommend that you do not consume these products. Since they have been recalled, you can also obtain a refund by presenting proof of purchase at the point of sale where they were purchased.

The one announced by the Ministry of Health is one of the most important recalls of this year. In total dozens of lots of salad have been recalled from the shelves of Italian supermarkets. The packages are both the smaller ones of 150 and 200 grams, but also some larger ones of 350 up to 500 grams.

There Listeria monocytogenes, the bacterium that may have contaminated the recalled packages is a pathogen dangerous to humans. However, its action on a healthy subject is relatively mild. Fragile people, such as patients, are at greater risk immunosuppressed, the elderly, the newborns and pregnant women. They are the ones who are most at risk of developing the most aggressive and dangerous forms of the disease.
