Price of the gas in clear decrease, while on the rates of electricity only a slight flexion. The end of winter and the consequent increase in temperatures led to a significant one decrease in the cost of the gasalbeit with differences on the free market between contracts at a variable price and fixed price.

This is noted an investigation carried out on the data of Arera by the non -profit association Consumerism And Wegroupplatform dedicated to purchasing groups for energy supplies, in which a slower descent of the light bill is reported.

The price of the gas

From the analysis of the best commercial offers published by the operators on the portal of the energy regulation authority, updated to May 2, in the large Italian cities, consumerism experts have recorded one average decrease of 16% of the price of the gas compared to February.

A drop that, according to the estimates in the survey, would bring an average saving of 300 euros per year on the bill, from 1,852 to 1,555 euros.

The cut would be more contained in fixed price contracts, in which, taking into consideration the most convenient offer on the free market, the cost of the gas would have fallen by11.3%.

Numbers that follow the trend of gas prices in the last few days: on the TTF market of Amsterdam of reference in Europe, on April 30 the raw material has fallen below Quota 32 euros at Megawattoraa symbolic threshold that has not been overcome for months.

On May 2, the gas closed on the rise to 33 euros/MWh, but the value on which it seems to have been attested to hope for the return of energy prices to normal levels.

The cost of electricity

Also on the price of electricity, consumerism and wegroup experts detect a decrease, but with a minor impact on the bill.

According to the investigation, considering the best offer at a variable price, the price of the light fell by -1.1%, from the 732 euros of this winter to 719.4 euros, with an average saving of 13 euros per year.

In this case, the convenience with fixed price contracts that, taking examination the cheapest on the free market, drops by the -4.9%from 735 euros to 698.97 euros, with savings 36 euros per year. As the authors of the investigation specify:

The concrete risk, however is that with the arrival of the hot months and the increase in the demand for energy, the rates of light in Italy can skim up, with a sting for the pockets of families if you consider the greatest consumption for air conditioners, fans, etc. in the summer months.
