Small Italian companies pay the double gas compared to large companies. This was revealed by a study by the Cgia of Mestre, who denounces the gap between the bills of craftsmen, the operators, the shopkeepers and the small entrepreneurs, compared to the costs incurred for the energy of the manufacturing and commercial industries.
As underlined by the experts of the Association, the costs of electricity and gases recorded in the last three years are still the realities with the costs with Less than 20 employeeswhich represent 98% of Italian companies and which, net of public administrations, work to about 60% of employees in the country.
The gap on the gas
From the data collected by the Study Office of the Cgia di Mestre it emerges how the bills of the light of small businesses are the 55% more expensive compared to those of the large companies and that those of the gas come to cost the double.
A difference, the experts underline, has always existed, but which in comparison with other European countries represents a gap too penalizing on small Italian entrepreneurs.
Before the pandemic, the small companies in our country paid the gas on average 60.1 euros in Megawatt-hour (MWH) against a price of 26.4 euros for large industries, 128% more, which became +157% in 2020 and +113% in 2021.
The difference between the two categories collapsed in 2022 to +33%, and then returned to grow up to +108% recorded last year, with a bill average of 99.5 euros In Megawatt-hour (MWH) against the 47.9 euros paid by large companies.
Compared to other large European countries, only i Small French entrepreneurs They pay a gas price higher than the Italian ones, 103.9 euros per MWH, while in Germany the bill is around 95 euros and in Spain for 48.5 euros.
The gap on electricity
The gap between small and large companies on the light billbut still relevant.
Starting from 2019, the percentage waste went from +77% to +106% in 2020, to +41% of 2021, up to the substantially to equalize in 2022, with a cost of light at prohibitive levels both for minor realities and for industries: respectively to 294.9 and 292 euros for MWH.
The difference returned to rise in 2023 (+29%), becoming consistent in 2024 with a +55% When small businesses paid for electric current on average 218.2 euros for MWH, against 140.4 euros for MWH of large companies.
Only in Germany Small entrepreneurs pay more electricity, even if the waste is lower than the German, French and Spanish (respectively +66%, +131%and +65%) and in general to the whole euro area, which stands on +60%.
Because small businesses pay more in Italy
According to the scholars of the Cgia of Mestre, the main factors that make light bills for small Italian companies higher are the network costs (transport and management of the meter), taxes and system charges, with an incidence in these realities on average to 40% of the total cost compared to a weight of 17% on large companies.
A difference also due by the fact that the industries buy theenergy in great volumes And often they make use of brokers who are able to negotiate lower rates with suppliers, while small entrepreneur acquire little energy and do not have much margin of negotiations.
The fixed componentsas a transport, system charges, excise duties, etc … they fall more on the consumption of small businesses, which use less energy, however paying high fixed quotas.
Finally, SMEs can rarely benefit tax breaks It is discounts on excise duties and charges, recognized by law to large energetic companies, which can also enter into multi -year contracts more stable contrary to small businesses that are subject to variation in market prices.
