The Italian company manufacturer of electric cars Mole Urban is ready to leave and is looking for 100 workers to assemble the cars in the new Orbassano plant, near Turin. The project of the designer Umberto Palermo was born between the Marche and the symbolic city of Italian automotive production.
The goal is to assemble 1,500 vehicles per year, for a niche but very varied production, with 12 models ranging from microcars to cities to vans for deliveries.
Mole Urban Search 100 workers to assemble cars in Turin
In front of the former Blutec of Orbassano, a municipality on the outskirts of Turin, a sign has been exhibited that reads: “It is assumed worker for assembly cars”. An announcement to which 180 people have already responded, which has been exposed outside what will be the new urban size factory.
Here the 12 models of the Italian electric car brand will be produced. Niche cars, as admitted by the same creator of the project, the designer Umberto Palermo, who, however, want to represent an example of how it is possible to build cars in Italy in a sustainable way. The company is looking for both young staff to train, and more experienced workers who work alongside the engineers. Palermo himself told SkyTg24:
The important thing is to give a firm and precise signal that there is still the possibility of manufacturing cars, albeit niche. There are our engineers and our shopping garments that are teaching the new levers how cars should be mounted, because every single bolt is the child of great sacrifice and therefore must be mounted in a certain way.
Which will produce an urban amount and how much they will cost
The cars assembled in Orbassano will be 12 different models, which vary a lot in the type and use. They will have in common electric motor and design, unique and clearly different from that of traditional cars.
Among the proposed models, the most similar to other options already on the market are microcar. Running, romantic and pitbull are the most similar among them, while the torpedo, three -seater two of the canons two, and the sport GT, which aims in an uncommon way for this type of cars with performances are distinguished.
Not only microcar though: urban size will also produce two larger passenger models. The bus and four seats aim to give more space to urban mobility, to which they still remain dedicated with an autonomy of 160 kilometers. Then there are the three commercial models, the work 1, 2 and 3, capable of bringing loads even up to 450 kilos. Finally, clearly distinct from the rest, the fuoriserie, with a more aggressive design and never seen in a microcar.
Once the fuoriserie is removed, which is available only on request, the prices never exceed 18,500 euros for microcar, and instead start from 11,000, without considering any incentive. The cost increases for larger models, but without ever coming, for the starting configurations, to touch the 20,000 euros.
The project of Mole Urbana, from the Marche to Piedmont
Mole Urbana was born in 2020 Over the past 5 years he has collected several private funding in addition to the support of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and of the European Union, through the Nextgeneration.
The first deliveries to the dealers will begin on November 7, the same day on which the Piedmontese plant will be officially inaugurated. The cars will be totally made in Italy, except for the batteries and for some details. The stated goal is to produce 400 specimens by the end of 2025 and reach 1,200 in 2026.
