New malfunctions for Poste Italiane today 12 January 2026. Users encountered problems with the use of the website and apps during the morning: as reported by the Downdetector portal, the reports reached their peak around 10.36am, with a total of 743 interruptions reported. Specifically, 71% of users encountered problems with the website, while 20% couldn’t even access the Post Office app. The remaining 9% had difficulties in the login phase.
Poste Italiane announced that it was a general problem on the site, which was resolved at 11.30am.
When attempting to access the website, a screen appeared with a 504 (Gateway Timeout) error message, visible below.
In terms of geographical distribution, the reports came from all over Italy, although in greater numbers in large cities such as Turin, Milan, Verona, Bologna, Florence, Perugia, Rome, Naples, Palermo and Catania.

Poste Italiane, however, has not provided official explanations as to the reason for these malfunctions. The episode takes place less than two weeks after the conversion of the SPID with PosteID from free to paid. Poste Italiane’s last major downturn dates back to 1 December 2025, resolved over the course of a few hours.
