Timing down, network and call problems, thousands of reports throughout Italy: what’s happening

From 10am today 22 December 2025 the operator Tim is recording a downturn in Italy: according to the portal Downdetectorin just over an hour, over 6,000 reports were received from users reporting disservices, of which 53% had problems accessing the internet line from a landline and 42% reported mobile network malfunctions, with inconveniences in making and receiving phone calls. Currently, the quota has dropped to around 4,000.

There have also been numerous reports of malfunctions also for Tiscali – a company that relies on the TIM network – albeit with a much lower number of reports (currently around 100).

In terms of geographical distribution, the reports come from all over Italy, even if the inhabitants of Lazio initially encountered problems. The downturn then spread to Campania, Lombardy and Piedmont until it reached all of Italy, although in greater numbers in large cities such as Turin, Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Perugia, Rome, Naples, Bari, Palermo and Catania.

At the moment, the company has not yet provided official explanations: the causes, therefore, remain unknown. Tim’s last down dates back to November 21st, when similar malfunctions were recorded for the fixed and mobile networks.
