6 new Cohesion Agreements signed with ministries worth approximately 1.7 billion euros. This was announced by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni through an official note, with which she describes each individual agreement and its objective. More commitment to school, health, research and safety.
Not only that, among the agreements signed there is also an expected strengthening of the National Civil Protection Service and new resources to combat hydrogeological risk. This is the largest package, worth almost 500 million euros.
Cohesion Agreements signed: total value over 50 billion
Between 2025 and 2026, several Cohesion Agreements were signed with the Regions, autonomous Provinces and ministries. The last 6 Cohesion Agreements arrive on 4 June, with the signature of Giorgia Meloni to the proposals of the Minister for European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies and the Pnrr, Raffaele Fitto.
For the new 6 agreements we are talking about approximately 1.7 billion euros, which are added to the previous 21 and the first 7 agreements with the ministries of October 2025, for a total of over 50 billion euros. The Prime Minister also recalled this:
Today we complete the path started at the beginning of this legislature, closing 34 Agreements worth a total of over 50 billion euros. Extremely precious resources, which finance strategic interventions to reduce territorial gaps and make Italy stronger, cohesive and competitive.
The new 6 agreements: which ministries they concern
Minister Foti, going into detail about the agreements signed, added:
Today we are activating 1.7 billion euros in projects for our young people in the field of education, to relaunch tourism as a strategic factor for growth, to strengthen our healthcare system, to increase the safety of our cities, to promote research oriented towards new technologies and to make our territories more resilient to disasters.
The Agreements do not all have the same value: some have smaller allocations, while others reach up to half a billion euros.
Ministry of Health: 90 million euros
The Ministry of Health receives 90 million euros from the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC). The resources will be used to strengthen socio-health structures for minors and young adults in charge of juvenile justice.
A part will also be allocated to the redevelopment and strengthening of the technological park intended for scientific hospitalization and treatment institutes (IRCCS).
Ministry of Tourism: 121.14 million euros
Instead, 121.14 million euros go to Tourism to contribute to the development of the sector. Inside there are proposals for innovation projects for:
- the development of competitiveness in tourism;
- investments to improve the quality of destinations;
- business support interventions to increase the quality and innovation of tourism services.
Ministry of the Interior: 278 million euros
More substantial resources for the Ministry of the Interior, with an endowment of approximately 278 million euros (180 million from FSC and 98 million from the Revolving Fund).
The Agreement provides for interventions on digitalisation, energy and urban redevelopment. In particular, this last point is divided into:
- implementation of Disaster Recovery (DR) of joint databases;
- strengthening of video surveillance systems in strategic and urban areas;
- digitalization of processes;
- dematerialization of State Police archives;
- raising safety levels;
- resilience of the State Police IT systems.
Ministry of Education and Merit: 360 million euros
360 million euros from the FSC go to the Ministry of Education. The aim is to finance interventions to improve the conditions of school buildings through highly anticipated works.
We are talking about fire-fighting adaptations, asbestos abatement and bringing systems and spaces for educational, sporting, laboratory and recreational activities up to standard.
Ministry of University and Research: 381.18 million euros
Important influx of resources for the Ministry of University and Research which receives 381.18 million euros (306.76 million from FSC and 74.41 million from the rotation fund).
They will serve to strengthen Research Infrastructures and highly specialized technical-scientific human capital. We are also aiming for applied research and technology transfer projects with priority attention to quantum technologies, high performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence.
Ministry for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies: 498.1 million euros
Finally, the Ministry for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, with an endowment of 470 million FSC resources, to which are added 28.1 million co-financing with other resources, for a total total of 498.1 million euros.
The budget is designed for interventions to reduce hydrogeological risk and to strengthen the National Civil Protection Service (SNPC). There is no shortage of flood risk mitigation projects and the development, redevelopment and modernization of marinas, landing places and seaside villages.
