How long do the ordinary BFP last, 20 or 30 years?

If its title has been issued by December 27, 2000 it is part of the series “Z“And it has one duration of 30 years. It therefore means that they can be held up to 30 years from the date of issue and continue to mature interests throughout this time period, exactly until 31 December of the year in which they will expire.

Here is an example:

Giacomo has an ordinary postal fruit voucher issued on October 15, 1998. The interests relating to this title will continue to mature until 31 December 2028.

Trential postal vouchers mature:

  • Interest in the capitalization regime composed in the first 20 years with composed capitalization, it means that each time they also calculate on previous interests;
  • Interest in the capitalization regime simple from the 21st to the 30th year or are always calculated on the initial figure without calculating the interests already accrued.

As regards, however, the vouchers issued starting from 28 December 2000 and therefore by the “A1” or subsequent series, in this case the duration is 20 years. After exactly this time span, the vouchers no longer mature.

Example:

For all 20 years, the interests of ordinary vouchers will always calculate with composed capitalization.

What happens if postal fructifers expire?

The BFPs, as explained, they stop producing interests from the day following the deadline. This applies to all good, both paper and dematerialized. If you have a paper title, once expired, you will have 10 years to collect capital and interests. If this time span does not respect, the prescription will start following which the right to receive the money invested and the interest will be lost.

If the paper voucher It has been issued until April 13, 2001, the amount not received will go to the MEF. If, on the other hand, the title was issued from 14 April 2001 onwards, the money will be transferred to a special fund for the dormant deposits always managed by the MEF.

If you have a dematerialized voucher or electronically recorded, without paper, the prescription will never take place. The refund will in fact take place automatically at the deadline and the amount consisting of capital more interest will be credited directly to the regulation account associated with the voucher that can be a saving booklet or a Bancoposta account. The good, however, must have the same header as one of these products.

The latter corresponds to the sum of the inserted amount and the interests provided for net of the withholding tax on interest. However, the calculation is not considered the stamp duty that is calculated according to current legislation. This title will then expire on May 27, 2045 and will be prescribed on May 28, 2045.

Please note that postal vouchers are subject to taxation on interest of 12.50% as happens with government bonds and that they are subject to a stamp duty of 0.2% on capital if their total value exceeds 5,000 euros.

In addition, from 3 April, the vouchers together with the government bonds are outside the ISEE. The unique satisfaction declarations that had already been presented in the current year will still remain valid until the new deadline. However, there will be the possibility to request a new certificate by presenting a new DSU calculated according to the recently introduced legislation.
