Postal savings bonds are savings and investment instruments issued by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and placed on the market by Poste Italiane. They are ideal products for those who want a simple and safe investment because they are guaranteed by the Italian State. Let’s see what the subscription methods are.
Which Bfp must be subscribed to at the Post Office
For paper postal vouchers, subscription and reimbursement can take place at any post office.
In the event that the refund is requested in the office where the voucher was issued, the operation will take place immediately. However, if it is requested at a different location, you will have to wait approximately 4 working days for the administrative checks.
The amount invested together with the accrued interest can then be returned in cash within the available cash limits or by money order or credit to the BancoPosta savings account or current account.
Dematerialized BFPs work online
Dematerialized postal savings bonds can instead be subscribed and reimbursed both at post offices and online by connecting to the official Poste Italiane website as long as the type of security allows it.
To be able to carry out this operation, however, it will be necessary to have a BancoPosta account or a Smart postal passbook enabled for digital services as they will act as a settlement account.
The securities that will be issued will then have the same name as the linked account and the reimbursement upon maturity will take place automatically on the latter.
Postal savings bonds with the Poste Italiane app
To subscribe to postal savings bonds with the Poste Italiane app, you must first download it and register. You will then need to enter your Poste ID code to log in and click on “postal savings” from the home page.
At this point the writing “fast operations” and below it that “buy voucher” on which you will need to click again. You will then have to:
- choose the type of security you want to purchase from those available;
- click on the buy button;
- choose whether to subscribe to the voucher with the account or with the Smart passbook;
- click on continue;
- choose the minimum amount of 50 euros which can be increased by multiples of fifty euros;
- click on continue;
- check that everything is correct;
- accept the general contractual conditions;
- click on activate;
- enter the Poste ID code.
The advantage of subscribing to this type of voucher or the dematerialized one is that upon maturity, as mentioned, the invested capital and the interest accrued net of tax charges will be credited directly to the settlement account.
In this way there will be no risk, as happens with paper securities, of it becoming statute barred with the consequent loss of the invested amount and interest.
