The regulation authority for energy networks and environment (Arera) started the new Grave Tutele ServiceI (STG) also for vulnerable customers. The decision of the decision to move to this type of supply regime should be communicated by 30 June. The STG was designed to accompany users who have not yet made the transition to the free market, outside the protected market.
Many of them are vulnerable customers, people with more than 75 years or with a very low Isee. Those who have fundamental medical machinery for the treatment of serious pathologies are also included in this category.
Savings of the gradual protection service
The gradual protein service was established at the time of the end of the protected market of energy, in the summer of 2024. Many customers had not yet passed on to a private supplier and, to avoid forced passages with Prices often much higher of those of the market, the state has made available a gradual exit from the protected market.
This service, since 2025, has also been available for so -called vulnerable customers, who would have the right to remain in the system with greater protection. In fact, a resolution of the Arera made the passage possible, setting the last date of expiry for the communication of this decision to 30 June 2025.
According to Assoutenti, total savings on bills moving on to the gradual protein service would be around 1.3 billion euros, about 113 euros per year for each customer. The customers involved are 11.8 million, 8.5 million who had passed on to the free market and 3.3 those still under more protection. Consumer associations, however, believe that the STG is not sufficient to defend consumers from the dangers of the direct passage from market protected to free market.
How to access gradual protections
To simplify the transition from the highest protection service to the gradual protein service, Aretra has published a new page on its website. In addition to explaining exactly how the new regime works, it also lists what are i suppliers selected for each geographical area, so that users know which company to request the service.
In fact, it is up to electricity suppliers to explain the possibility for users to use gradual protections on their own sites. In the coming weeks it will become mandatory, for the companies involved, to report a series of information about the respective websites. There will also be three different possible channels of access to information on gradual protections for users: telephone, physical and electronic.
Arera will also force suppliers to report the toll -free number of the Energy and environment consumer counter. To access Astg users must present vulnerability self -certification, completely similar to that already used for the stay in the protected market.
