Investments for over 100 billion of euros in 5 five years and one profound transformation of the company and of the mobility infrastructures – roads and railways – to contribute in a concrete way to development of the country. This is what the Strategic Plan 2025-2029 of the FS Italiane Group, presented by the CEO and General Manager, Stefano Antonio Donnarummain the presence of the President of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Tommaso Tanzilli and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini.
“The Strategic Plan that will accompany us over the next five years will have a decisive impact on the structure of the FS Group, enabling us to overcome current and future challenges”, underlined the President Tommaso Tanzillialso mentioning the importance of the Group’s people “who, on a daily basis, are committed to guaranteeing a service that meets expectations in all the areas in which we operate”. “The Strategic Plan – he added – will also have a decisive impact on the country system, bringing connectivity, services and that added value that can make the difference”.
“The FS Group is preparing to launch a fambitious transformation phase, aimed not only at innovating operational processes, but also at significantly improving the services offered”, declared the CEO Stefano Antonio Donnarummaunderlining “I have the honor of leading a solid company rooted in the socio-economic fabric of the country with a strong need for relaunch through a detailed roadmap, supported by adequate investments”.
“This Plan, which aims to establish a clear discontinuity, responds to the needs of a society projected towards the future, recognizing integrated mobility as a fundamental pillar for development. The objective is to face the economic-financial challenges more effectively and further strengthen the infrastructure and the quality of the service”, concluded the CEO.
The objectives of the Plan
The FS Group aims to strengthen the resilience of the network railway and road, improve the quality of servicesupport the completion of infrastructures and to promote increasingly sustainable mobilitymonitoring as many as 250 performance indicators (KPIs) to be achieved in the next 5 years.
The Plan will lay the foundations for a “substantial growth” between now and 2029which predicts an improvement in all the main economic indicators, with an increase in revenues of over 20 billion of euros, ofEBITDA at more than 3.5 billion of euros and of result
net at over 500 million.
The guidelines for the next 5 years
The FS Group’s relaunch plan was developed with the aim of responding effectively to the growing challenges of the market and, at the same time, strengthening the company’s positioning in the transport sector. Eight strategic guidelines which will accompany this path of renewal, starting with the Group’s commitment to strengthen infrastructure of the country, through new high-speed lines that make it possible to connect territories not served until now, so as to increase the number of people reached by the high-speed system in Italy by 30%. This will be accomplished with the achieving the best performance ever through the recovery of punctuality for over 50 thousand trains per year. Added to all this a travel experience tailored to the personwith an increase in passenger satisfaction. No less decisive is the international presencefor which an increase in passenger volume of 40% is estimated.
The operational discipline, thanks also to the huge investments, aims to reduce the cost of operating costs by 5%.. Furthermore, on the
forehead of sustainabilitylooms beyond one Gigawatt of photovoltaic installed by 2029 and, as far as innovation and safetythe achievement of the 100% of the Core Extended network covered by the ERTMS system between now and 2040. The strategic lines are completed by a clear acceleration of the business, with the attraction of new skills and financial resources necessary to ensure the continuation of investments.
