How Taylor Swift’s LED Light-Up Bracelets Work

The only Italian dates of the The Eras Tour 2024 Of Taylor Swift on July 13th and 14th at the stadium San Siro in Milan were among the most talked about musical events of the summer of 2024: almost three and a half hours of show and an expected audience of approximately 130 thousand people. One of the key elements of this “Eras Tour” is the presence of particulars bracelets LED to wear that change color depending on the song the artist is singing at that moment. They are made of a plastic plate around which two “straps” start, inside which stands out the writing “TAYLOR SWIFT – THE ERAS TOUR – TAYLORSWIFT.COM”. But how exactly do they work?

As also commented by the CEO of the producing company, sometimes people who attend the shows are convinced that “GPS or advanced artificial intelligence are involved” but it is actually a very different system. From a technical point of view the bracelets are made up of LED lights inside which there is a wireless chips which allows remote control via infrared. There is therefore an operator who set the color and sync them with the musicso as to obtain real digital designs, using each bracelet as if it were a pixel on a screen.

In reality, the use of these bracelets is certainly not new: brought to success by Coldplay in 2023, they have also been used by other stars such as Bad Bunny, Pluma Weight, Imagine Dragons and by Taylor Swift herself on previous tours.
An important difference compared to other events of this type – such as Coldplay’s, for example – is that in this case the bracelets could be brought At home by fans, while on other occasions it was requested return to be able to reuse them on other dates and therefore limit the environmental and economic impact.
