in 2024 only 22 IPOs, FTSE MIB Index +12.5%

Piazza Affari ends 2024 on a positive note overallwith a positive performance of the indices and market capitalization, even if this decreases slightly in relation to GDP. Another less than brilliant figure is the number of new listings (IPOs) which drops considerably, as does the value of funding. This is what emerges from the latest ones numbers disclosed by Borsa Italianawhich photograph the market as of December 27, 2024.

Fewer and smaller IPOs

In 2024, they were registered on the markets managed by Borsa Italiana only 22 admissions to listing, a sharp decline compared to the 39 IPOs recorded the previous year. Also the collection drops drastically, reaching just 206 million eurossignificantly lower than the 1.6 billion collected in 2023.

Of the 22 admissions to listing, only one took place on the main market Euronext Milan (STAR ​​segment) – SYS-DAT GROUP – the other 21 were completed by SMEs on the Euronext Growth Milan market dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises: KRUSO KAPITAL, PALINGEO, ESPE, EGOMNIA, BERTOLOTTI, NEXT GEOSOLUTIONS EUROPE, MARE ENGINEERING GROUP , SOGES GROUP, ADRIATIC ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION, LITIX, I.CO.P, MISITANO & STRACUZZI, NOVAMARINE, FINANCE FOR FOOD, ADVENTURE, GT TALENT GROUP, PREDICT, COGEFEED, SMART CAPITAL, VIVENDA GROUP, EDGELAB.

At the end of December 2024, on the markets of the Italian Stock Exchange, 421 listed companies: 210 companies on the Euronext Milan market (of which 69 on the STAR segment), 1 FIA instrument on the Euronext MIV Milan market and 210 on Euronext Growth Milan (the growth market dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises). Over the course of the year, it is also recorded 1 market pass – ALTEA GREEN POWER – from Euronext Growth Milan to the STAR segment of Euronext Milan.

In 2024 they were overall 20 capital increase operations carried out under option with a value of approximately 948 million euros. In 2024 there were 26 takeover bids for a value of approximately 3.163 million euros.

Positive performance of indices and capitalisation

As of December 27, 2024, lThe FTSE MIB index recorded an increase of 12.6% after recording a high of the year at 35,410 on 16 May 2024 and an annual low of 30,077 on 23 January 2024. The FTSE Italia All Share index recorded an increase of 12% (annual high 37,632 on 16 May; low 32,162 on 3 January 2024).

The overall capitalization also grew of listed companies, which as of 27 December 2024 stood at 811 billion euroscompared to 761 billion last year. However, the incidence is decreasing to 38% of GDP compared to 39.4% at the end of 2023.

Trade is also growing: Unicredit at the top

Share trading grew compared to the previous year, reaching one daily average of 2.6 billion of euros and an average of over 300,000 contracts. Overall, over 76 million contracts were exchanged and a value of 666 billion euros. The daily maximum for contracts was reached on 5 August 2024 with 59,685 contracts traded and, for the equivalent value, on 15 March with 6.6 billion euros.

Unicredit was the most traded stock both by contracts and by value, with over 5 million contracts for a total of over 78 billion euros.

The other markets

As far as the market is concerned ETFpluswhere ETFs, ETC/ETNs, gl are tradedlisted instruments rose to 1,990 (1653 ETFs and 337 ETC/ETNs), while the Assets Under Management (AUM) reached approximately 151.03 billion euros with an inflow of over 11.23 billion euros since the beginning of the year. The market recorded a daily average in terms of value of 420 million euros. Overall, almost 106 billion euros and approximately 8.6 million contracts were traded on these segments.

The bond market (MOT) consolidates the European leadershipwith 1541 instruments listed overall (168 Government Bonds, 45 Bonds and 1328 Eurobonds and ABS) AND an average daily trading of over 31,000 contracts and 1,172 million euros.

During 2024, the third and fourth issues of the BTP Valore were distributed on the MOT market for a total collection of almost 30 billion euros and over one million contracts concluded in the distribution phases. Following an important system effort promoted by Borsa Italiana which saw the participation of the entire financial industry with the full support of the supervisory authority Consob, the professional segment of the MOT, during 2024, saw the first listings of institutional issues of Snam, of the covered bond of BCC Iccrea Group and program approval EMTN of A2A and Mediobancapositioning itself as a hub of global visibility also for institutional issues.

The segment dedicated to Green and Social Bond in 2017 it reached 416 instruments for an overall outstanding greater than 620 billion euros. The repatriation of Snam and the A2A program strengthens the positioning of Borsa Italiana on ESG issues.
