Stock market, Piazza Affari closes at parity, Saipem rallies but the banks’ negatives weigh

The Ftse Mib closes practically unchanged at 34,715 points (+0.05%), erasing the gains in the last part of the session. It stands out among the best performances on the list Saipemup 4.6% after the release of third-quarter results, followed by Stellantis (+1.65%) e Brunello Cucinelli (+1.6%). At the bottom of the table is Banco Bpm (-2%), Nexi (-2%) e Mps (-1.8%). The BTP/Bund differential stands at 121 points.

The other European stock markets closed on a positive note: Paris recorded a +0.1%, Frankfurt +0.3% and London +0.1%. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones lost 0.4% two hours after the opening, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq remained in positive territory.

On the previous day, American indices closed lower, with the Nasdaq down 1.6% and 10-year Treasury yields at three-month highs. It will be important to monitor data on unemployment benefits.

Stock market 9am: Piazza Affari positive thanks to the quarterly reports of Saipem and Tesla, cars and tech are on the rise

After the declines of the previous day, Milan earn it 0.52% in the Ftse Mib, driven by Saipem’s rally after the publication of the quarterly report. In Piazza Affari, Saipem dominates today, having presented quarterly accounts above expectations and which opens with a +3.75%. The net result for the first nine months of 2024 was 206 million euros (vs. 79 million in the same period of 2023), of which 88 million in the third quarter (vs. 39 million).

Stellantis and STMicroelectronics rise respectively by 1.83% And by 1.15%, driven by the positive results of Tesla, which have given impetus to the auto and tech sectors, while Eni advances1.37% at 14.374 euros, after having signed the contract with KKR for the entry of the US fund into 25% of the share capital of Enilive. The total consideration agreed is equal to 2.938 billion euros. The yield on the 10-year BTP fell to 3.487%, with the spread against the Bund stable at 121.10 basis points. The Treasury specified that over 80% of the BTP, issued in two tranches for a total of 13 billion euros, was purchased by foreign investors.
