Health records, deadline June 30: what it is and how to oppose it

There is very little left until the deadline to be able to oppose the inclusion of data in the health file. Something many are still unaware of. But what are we talking about? In detail, it is a real electronic health record. A digitized medical record which boasts within it all our history in terms of physical health. Saying no is still possible for a few hours and the denial actually concerns the “older” health data. Below is all the necessary information to make an informed decision, while there is still time to do so.

What is the electronic health record

When we talk about ESF, or electronic health records, we are not referring to something new in an absolute sense, on the contrary. This system has existed since 2012. but, by the end of the year, will become national. The objective is to be able to facilitate the management of citizens’ health. This will happen through a shared platform, which allows users NHS operators to quickly access information also crucial regarding their patients.

From this point of view, therefore, the subjects will not necessarily have to remember their medical history in detail. At the same time, moreover, errors due to a lack of information will be avoided (or at least the statistics will be lowered). At the same time, certain useful services for users:

  • exam booking;
  • ticket payment;
  • choice of GP.

It’s all part of a system digitalization of the Italian publicwhich has undergone a clear acceleration during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The deadline

As mentioned, there are not many hours left until expiration of the right of opposition to enter your information in this digital file. Specifically, you need to mark in red on the calendar the Date of June 30, 2024.

Staying on the subject of timing, we know that the platform will be fully operational by mid-2026, guaranteeing the clinical history of each patient, in its entirety. Carrying out the procedure to refuse the insertion of “old” data means objecting to the uploading of information and documents prior to May 19, 2020. For what is subsequent, however, the legislation does not provide in any way for “prior consent”.

Electronic health record, what it contains

The inclusion of the Electronic Health Record is planned data and documents of all kinds. Therefore, reference is also made to the services that were provided outside the National Health Service. A list of information that, understandably, has thrown many into a state of alarm. Net of the services obtained, in fact, it is a little frightening to know that a sort of personal medical biography is available to many individuals, in a national database. Here is what we are talking about, in detail:

  • identification data;
  • administrative data (exemptions for income, pathologies, contacts, etc.);
  • reports;
  • emergency room reports;
  • hospital discharge letters;
  • health profile in summary;
  • specialist prescriptions;
  • drug prescriptions;
  • medical records;
  • supply of medicines paid for by the NHS and otherwise;
  • vaccinations;
  • provision of specialist assistance services.

How to oppose

Under no circumstances can anything be done regarding the post-May 2020 data, as specified. This means that information relating to anti-Covid vaccinations, for example, will be entered into the national database (not that it was previously unobtainable).

Anyone who wants to will be able to access the site in these few remaining days Health card portal. From here you can select the FSE online service – Opposition to previous records. Three different modes are therefore available. It is obviously necessary to identify yourself through the various systems available, such as Spid. However, the right is also guaranteed to those who have not subscribed to a digital identity service.

There is in fact a free section of the Tessera sanità website. All you need to do is enter your tax code, the card number and the expiration date. This can also be done through an ASL operator.
