The appeal of the fresh eggs due to a suspicion microbiological contamination. The Ministry of Health has in fact communicated that several batches of fresh category A eggs, coming from free-range farms and marketed under the brands Delights from the Sun by Eurospin, Lactis by Parmalat, Cascina Italia, Latteria Chiuro, Gesco, Amadori, Conad And Of the Fieldhave been recalled by the manufacturer as a precaution.

Although it is never mentioned in the reports, the suspicion is that it could be Salmonella.

The lots involved

We had already talked about it in recent days about Esselunga recalling four batches of Smart eggs due to suspected microbiological contamination, but now the case is getting bigger. In recent days, the recalls have increased to 31, with the recalled batches reaching a total of more than 40.

The recall of August 27 for risk of Salmonella in some batches of eggs was ordered directly by Cascina Italia Spa, the manufacturing company based in Spirano, in the province of Bergamo. These eggs, sold under different brands and distributed in various supermarkets, are the subject of a warning from the Ministry of Health, which recommends not consuming them and returning them to the points of sale where they were purchased.

  • Fresh large free range eggs category A Farmhouse Italy, in packs of 180 pieces, with batch number 4736619926 and expiry date 09/09/2024;
  • Fresh large free range eggs category A Chiuro Dairyin packs of 6 pieces, belonging to batch numbers 4736619926 with the expiry date 09/09/2024, and 4282789926 with the expiry date 12/09/2024; the recall was also reported by Iperal;

In recent days, the supermarket chains Esselunga and Bennett had already published, now also released by the Ministry of Health, the recall of some brands of eggs due to microbiological risk. These are:

  • Lot 4179019929, expiring on September 14, 2024
  • Lot 4282789926, expiring on 12 September 2024
  • Lot 4501159926, expiring on 5 September 2024
  • Lot 4736619926, expiring on 9 September 2024

As a precaution, companies recommend not consuming fresh eggs with the brands, batch numbers and expiration dates indicated above. Consumers who may have the recalled products can therefore return them to the point of purchase.

The risks associated with microbiological contamination

The official press release from the Ministry does not specify the details regarding the nature of the contamination; it is known that eggs can be subject to various types of microbiological agents.
